Tennis Ball Treat Game

For this simple but very fun game you'll need:

  • A tennis ball (preferably an old one)

  • An exacto knife or scissors

  • High-value treats/kibble

Take a tennis ball, cut a small slit, and insert a few treats inside (you can start either very high-value treats to get your dog ver interested, just in case). You can start with a small cute and make it bigger as you need, depending on the size of the treats and your dog.

Your dog will need to figure out how to manipulate the ball to release the treats. Just make sure to keep a close eye on how your dog chooses to engage with the tennis ball.

If they start shredding it, you will want to switch to a more physical-type game like fetch or tug-and-pull, to help burn some energy out so that it helps your dog think more clearly, before switching back to the tennis ball game.

Your dog will then be able to focus on just nudging the ball for the treats to fall out. If your dog still continues to shred the ball, you will want to participate in the game a bit more by moving the ball around yourself so that your dog understands how to go about it.
