1. Making sure your dog gets plenty of mental, physical and social enrichment. You want to rule out the jumping being due to your dog having pent up energy and thus using that as an outlet.
2. Use a leash every time. The best way you can replace one behaviour with another (far easier and more doable than trying to get your dog to just not do something) is by using the leash to guide your dog AND to prevent the behaviour you don’t want repeated.
3. If your dog still happens to jump, on-leash or not, make sure that the people he jumps on know to not reinforce that behaviour. Any kind of attention will act as a reinforcer and thus motivate your dog to continue doing it time and time again.
